While free from Force the Press remains,
Virtue and Freedom chear our Plains,
And Learning Largesses bestows,
And keeps unlicens’d open House.
We to the Nation’s publick Mart
Our Works of Wit, and Schemes of Art,
And philosophic Goods, this Way,
Like Water carriage, cheap convey.
This Tree which Knowledge so affords,
Inquisitors with flaming swords
From Lay-Approach with Zeal defend,
Lest their own Paradise should end.
The Press from her fecundous Womb
Brought forth the Arts of Greece and Rome;
Her offspring, skill’d in Logic War,
Truth’s Banner wav’d in open Air;
The Monster Superstition fled,
And hid in Shades in Gorgon Head;
And awless Pow’r, the long kept Field,
By Reason quell’d, was forc’d to yield.
This Nurse of Arts, and Freedom’s Fence,
To chain, is Treason against Sense:
And Liberty, thy thousand Tongues
None silence who design no Wrongs;
For those who use the Gag’s Restraint,
First Rob, before they stop Complaint.

We take many things for granted in this world and FREEDOM is one of them.

FREEDOM can be experienced on many different levels. Imagine a world without freedom. Where you can’t practise your religion, your speech, your thoughts, what you like to eat, where you want to go, where you like to sleep, where you have no choice to do what you like to do on a daily basis, where you are not allowed to love… a world, where you’re not even allowed to even think. You imagine that suddenly all those rights were taken from you. How would you feel?

But we are lucky to have these choices. We can choose our own path and depending on our choices our lives will have different destinations.

Your freedom depends on the choices you make in life and sadly, it isn’t until we no longer have the “Freedom of Choice” that we become aware of the fact that freedom is a precious gift.

Don’t take this precious gift for granted as it could be taken from you any time.

How about you? Have you watched ”Freedom Writers“? Personally, I have not watched it and I was told that if you haven’t watched it to make sure you got your hankie ready. Certain parts seem to be quite emotional.

“Freedom Writers” is inspired by a true story and the diaries of real Long Beach teenagers after the LA riots, during the worst outbreak of interracial gang warfare.
